In the early 1990s, John Rees planted his first vines in soil that once supported apple trees on slopes above the North West Bay River, Margate.

It is a beautiful spot, north facing, with views to Kunanyi/Mt Wellington and east to D’Entrecasteaux Channel.

John loved to share his passion and place with friends and visitors in the cellar door, which opened 15 years ago.

Nandroya Vineyard is small, but now that John is no longer here, his generous spirit is present, and the Nandroya family will continue to welcome and share the latest vintage.
